Jon Renau Recommends Washing Your Alternative Hair Every 6-8 Wears
CLEANSE & CONDITION
- Before washing, gently remove any tangles using your Wide Tooth Comb
- Wet hair completely using cool running water, allowing the water to flow in the direction of the fibers
- Gently lather the hair with a small amount of Jon Renau Synthetic Shampoo, making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction
- DO NOT rub hair as this will cause tangling
- Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until water runs clear
- Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry
- Spray fibers with Jon Renau Leave-In Conditioning Spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece
- Do not rinse out conditioner
- Gently detangle hair using your Wide Tooth Comb
DRY & STYLE
- Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing on a plastic or wire wig stand
- Air drying your wig will give the best results
- The fiber will dry fastest; be sure the cap is completely dry before styling, wearing, storing, or displaying
- DO NOT blow dry Synthetic hair or Heat Friendly Synthetic fibers
- For mid-length to long-length styles, apply HD Smooth Detangling Spray (3-5 pumps) focusing on the bottom half of wig or hairpiece
- Gently comb through using your Wide Tooth Comb only
- Other tools will cause frizzing/tangling
- HD fiber can withstand heat up to 350° F; however, Jon Renau recommends working at 270°-280° F
- It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat
CURL & FLAT IRON
- Heat your curling or flat iron to 270°-280° F
- Using your Jon Renau Wide Tooth Comb, gently comb hair free of tangles
- Starting at the nape, take ½ inch to 1 ½ inch sections of hair (smaller sections = tighter curls, larger sections = looser curls)
- Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
CURL
- Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll iron up towards base of wig or hairpiece, staying 1 to 2 inches away from the base
- Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the tip of iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand
- Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip (like a pin curl)
- Allow curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes); remove clip and let curl hang naturally
FLAT IRON
- Starting at the nape, take ½ inch to 1 ½ inch sections
- Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
- Slowly smooth flat iron down through ends; keep hair smooth by following behind the flat iron with your Wide Tooth Comb
- Allow hair to hang naturally and cool completely
TIPS
- All synthetic fibers can tangle and frizz with wear
- It is important that the frizz is corrected early to avoid permanent damage to the fiber
- Use your flat iron to smooth any frizz before washing
- We recommend using HD Smooth Detangling Spray with a Wide Tooth Comb DAILY to detangle your HD wig or topper
- This is especially important with the mid-length to long-length HD wigs or hairpieces
- To add texture and definition, use a small amount of Piece Out Contour Fiber Crème and apply using fingertips

"I love my Ignite I especially love that it’s in Large Cap now as Jon Renau average caps run on the small side for me. This is a major difference and very comfortable to wear. I got mine in Palm Springs Blonde and I love the HD fibers on this short style. Such a classic look and beautiful style definitely a go to favorite of mine."

"Well I put it on and thought it was great, then I altered it like I do all my wigs because my head is small ear to ear but not around. I was looking in the mirror and could the lines that were sewn with hair. None of my other wigs are like this. I am unsure if I got a lemon or this is what JR is doing now. I would never wear this wig except for yard work. Really disappointed in construction."

"I have tried so many different styles and colors over the past months trying to find something that felt well suited to me. (Wigstudio1 has been fantastic). Jon Renau’s Ignite worked right out of the box. I am wearing shaded mocha. It is a beautiful color. I do wish there was a mono or hand-tied version, but honestly, you can’t even tell it is a wig. Thank you."
Disappointed in my second Ignite
"I ordered an Ignite wig in color 6. I already owned an Ignite in color 6/33 which I loved! My first Ignite in 6/33 lays great and you can fluff it out for more volume. This Ignite in color 6 has some hair fibers at the crown that are about 2 inches long and stand straight up. They are not the permatease fibers but are the hair strands. I tried steaming and using a round hair dryer to try to redirect those fibers. This has helped but not solved that issue. The rest of this wig wants to lay flat and doesn’t fluff out like my first Ignite does. I will probably never wear this wig. Color 6 brown is actually almost black. I am so disappointed that quality of this wig was not like that of my first Ignite. Perhaps just a bad day at the factory. I would have returned this Ignite but assuming it was just like my first Ignite, I removed the tags. Lesson learned. Try on to be sure it works for you."
