Step 1: Measuring Your Head
While average size wigs tend to fit about 95% of customers, you will find that quite a few wigs also come in petite and large sizes.
Consider that many also have adjustable straps that give up to 1/2" so that you can achieve a more comfortable and personalized fit.
To determine the right size wig for you, you’ll need to measure the circumference of your head from the front hairline, behind your ear, to the nape of your neck, to your other ear and then back to the front hairline. (See below diagram and link to video).
While you are measuring, you’ll need to write down your measurements and then review the diagram below:

Step 2: Choose Your Wig Style
Finding the perfect wig style is easy with our online store. You can conveniently filter your search by wig length — whether you're looking for short wigs, medium-length wigs, or long wigs, we’ve got options to suit every preference.
If you’re shopping for your first wig, we recommend starting with a style that closely matches your natural hairstyle. Choosing a familiar look helps you feel more confident and comfortable as you transition into wearing wigs.
Once you're more used to it, you can explore bolder styles or experiment with new colors and textures. Wigs offer incredible styling flexibility — you can enjoy a flawless look every day and change your hair without commitment.
Many of our clients have fun switching up their appearance and trying different looks. From classic cuts to trendy styles, the possibilities are endless!
Plus, certain wig styles complement specific face shapes, so you’re sure to find a flattering option that enhances your natural beauty.
Step 3: Wig Composition – Hair Type & Cap Construction
When choosing the right wig, it's important to consider both the hair type and the cap construction. Each hair type offers unique benefits and is suited for different needs, lifestyles, and styling preferences.
Human Hair Wigs
Human hair wigs offer the most natural appearance, feel, and movement. They can be styled just like your own hair using heat tools and offer the greatest versatility, but they do require more maintenance.
-
Standard Human Hair:
-
Most natural look and feel
-
Maximum styling flexibility (curl, straighten, dye)
-
Requires regular styling, especially after washing
-
Durable — can last over a year with proper care
-
-
Premium & Remy Human Hair:
-
Highest quality human hair available
-
Hair cuticles remain aligned in one direction, reducing tangling
-
Luxuriously soft and natural
-
Typically more expensive due to meticulous collection and processing
-
Extremely durable — can last over a year with proper care
-
Synthetic Hair Wigs
Synthetic wigs are a popular, low-maintenance option ideal for busy lifestyles or those new to wigs.
-
Traditional Synthetic Hair:
-
Pre-styled and holds shape after washing
-
Very low maintenance — ready to wear right out of the box
-
Offers a realistic look, especially in high-quality versions
-
Not heat-friendly — cannot be styled with hot tools
-
Lifespan: 4–6 months with proper care
-
-
Heat-Friendly Synthetic Hair (Heat Stylable):
-
Can be styled with heat tools (up to 260°F / 127°C)
-
Offers more versatility than regular synthetic wigs
-
Requires extra care to avoid tangling
-
Slightly more delicate — typically lasts 2–3 months with proper care
-
More challenging to style than human hair
-
Pro Tip:
If you love changing your look often or enjoy styling your hair, Remy human hair or heat-friendly synthetic wigs are excellent options. For easy, everyday wear with minimal upkeep, traditional synthetic wigs offer simplicity and convenience.
Step 4: What Type of Cap Construction is Right for You?
When selecting a wig, it’s essential to understand the different wig cap constructions. Each cap type determines how the hair is attached and affects the wig’s comfort, realism, styling flexibility, and breathability.
100% Hand-Tied Wig Caps
-
Offers the most natural movement — each strand is individually hand-tied across the entire cap, allowing the hair to move freely.
-
Extremely soft and gentle on the scalp — ideal for those with sensitive skin or experiencing hair loss.
-
Allows for multi-directional parting, giving you maximum styling versatility.
Monofilament Wig Caps
-
Designed to mimic natural hair growth at the part, crown, or top of the head.
-
Each hair is hand-tied to a sheer monofilament base (but not the entire cap).
-
Can be found in different styles:
-
Mono Part: Natural-looking part line.
-
Mono Crown: Realistic crown appearance.
-
Full Mono Top: Freestyle parting across the top of the wig.
-
Double Monofilament: Features an extra soft layer for added comfort and protection, especially for sensitive scalps.
-
Lace Front Wig Caps
-
Features a sheer lace section at the front of the wig where each hair is hand-tied.
-
Creates the appearance of a natural hairline, making it ideal for styles worn away from the face.
-
Provides a seamless transition between your forehead and the wig, enhancing realism and confidence.
Basic Cap (Capless / Traditional Wig Caps)
-
Most affordable and durable wig construction.
-
Also called open cap due to open wefting throughout most of the cap, allowing for superior airflow and breathability.
-
Built-in volume at the crown offers a natural lift — great for those who prefer effortless volume.
-
Lightweight and ideal for everyday wear.
Pro Tip:
If you're looking for maximum comfort and realism, consider a 100% hand-tied or monofilament cap. For a budget-friendly, breathable option, a basic cap wig may be the perfect choice.
Step 5: Choosing the Right Wig Color
Selecting the perfect wig color is just as important as choosing the right style and cap construction. Most of our wig styles are available in a wide range of shades, from natural hues to vibrant fashion colors.
As you narrow down your favorite styles, take time to explore the available color options for each one. Whether you're looking for blonde, brunette, red, gray, rooted, or highlighted tones — there’s something for everyone.
First-Time Wig Buyer? Start with a Familiar Shade
If this is your first wig purchase, we recommend choosing a color that’s close to your natural hair color. This can make the transition to wearing a wig feel more comfortable and help you feel more confident from day one.
Step 6: How to Care for Your New Hair
Proper wig care is essential to keeping your new hair looking fresh, beautiful, and long-lasting. Whether you've chosen a human hair wig or a synthetic wig, the right care routine will help preserve the style, texture, and overall quality of your piece.
Once you've selected your perfect wig or hair topper, it's important to use the appropriate cleansing and styling products designed specifically for your hair type.
Wig Care Made Easy
-
For human hair wigs, we recommend using one of our Human Hair Care Kits – formulated to gently cleanse, hydrate, and protect your wig while maintaining its natural shine and softness.
-
For synthetic wigs and toppers, our Synthetic Hair Care Kits help preserve the fiber, reduce tangling, and keep your wig looking its best with minimal effort.
Pro Tip:
Always use wig-safe products — regular shampoos and conditioners can damage both synthetic and human hair fibers.
