Jon Renau Recommends Washing Your Alternative Hair Every 6-8 Wears

CLEANSE & CONDITION

  • Before washing, gently remove any tangles using your Wide Tooth Comb
  • Wet hair completely using cool running water, allowing the water to flow in the direction of the fibers
  • Gently lather the hair with a small amount of Jon Renau Synthetic Shampoo, making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction
  • DO NOT rub hair as this will cause tangling
  • Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until water runs clear
  • Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry
  • Spray fibers with Jon Renau Leave-In Conditioning Spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece
  • Do not rinse out conditioner
  • Gently detangle hair using your Wide Tooth Comb

DRY & STYLE

  • Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing on a plastic or wire wig stand
  • Air drying your wig will give the best results
  • The fiber will dry fastest; be sure the cap is completely dry before styling, wearing, storing, or displaying
  • DO NOT blow dry Synthetic hair or Heat Friendly Synthetic fibers
  • For mid-length to long-length styles, apply HD Smooth Detangling Spray (3-5 pumps) focusing on the bottom half of wig or hairpiece
  • Gently comb through using your Wide Tooth Comb only
  • Other tools will cause frizzing/tangling
  • HD fiber can withstand heat up to 350° F; however, Jon Renau recommends working at 270°-280° F
  • It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat

CURL & FLAT IRON

  • Heat your curling or flat iron to 270°-280° F
  • Using your Jon Renau Wide Tooth Comb, gently comb hair free of tangles
  • Starting at the nape, take ½ inch to 1 ½ inch sections of hair (smaller sections = tighter curls, larger sections = looser curls)
  • Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)

CURL

  • Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll iron up towards base of wig or hairpiece, staying 1 to 2 inches away from the base
  • Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the tip of iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand
  • Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip (like a pin curl)
  • Allow curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes); remove clip and let curl hang naturally

FLAT IRON

  • Starting at the nape, take ½ inch to 1 ½ inch sections
  • Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
  • Slowly smooth flat iron down through ends; keep hair smooth by following behind the flat iron with your Wide Tooth Comb
  • Allow hair to hang naturally and cool completely

TIPS

  • All synthetic fibers can tangle and frizz with wear
  • It is important that the frizz is corrected early to avoid permanent damage to the fiber
  • Use your flat iron to smooth any frizz before washing
  • We recommend using HD Smooth Detangling Spray with a Wide Tooth Comb DAILY to detangle your HD wig or topper
  • This is especially important with the mid-length to long-length HD wigs or hairpieces
  • To add texture and definition, use a small amount of Piece Out Contour Fiber Crème and apply using fingertips

    "I finally got my Hollie in Palm Springs Blonde. Overall, I really like it. The length is perfect for me - longer wigs tend to fray too much. I feel like this one won't. It looks very realistic and I've received a lot of compliments. And you can't beat the cap - very comfortable, not itchy at all like open weft wigs. There is one con - the knots are too dark for the Palm Springs Blonde color (and my fair skin). If it weren't for that, it would be a 5-star wig. However, I now know that Palm Springs is my color! Love the lighter roots!"

    Hollie - Toffee Truffle

    "I had been wearing topper Top Coverage in Toffee Truffle for a few years, but needed to switch over to a wig due to continued hair loss. This wig is wonderful and I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it. One thing I didn’t know though, as there are no pictures of the inside of the cap and no one has mentioned it in their reviews, is the short fibers at the nape. I find them itchy and wish that they were longer so they would lay flat on the back of my neck a little bit further down. I will continue to purchase this wig though, it is just beautiful and very comfortable. Thank you WigStudio 1 for your service. I have worked with Brandi in Customer Service, and she is awesome."
