1. What is the difference between synthetic wigs and human hair wigs?
Synthetic wigs are designed with man-made fibers with the ability to hold their style with minimal maintenance. Human hair wigs are created from real hair, offering the most natural movement and styling versatility. Human hair usually lasts longer but requires more upkeep. For example, a synthetic wig is usually ready to wear right out of the box with a good shake, while a human hair wig may need to be styled.
Human hair wigs last longer than synthetic wigs, but require more of an investment.
2. How long does a wig last?
The lifespan of a wig depends on the fiber, how often it’s worn, and how well it’s cared for.

Heat-Friendly Synthetic: Heat resistant wigs can last 3–6 months with proper care. It is important to add heat to the ends of your heat friendly synthetic wigs to reduce frizz and clumping on the ends. Human Hair: With proper care, a human hair wig can last 1–3 years. Proper washing, storage, and product use will extend the lifespan of your wig.
3. How do I choose the right wig cap size?
The first step in choosing the right wig size is to measure your head. You'll begin with your head circumference at the hairline, then measure your your ear to ear measurements and finally, your front to nape measurements. Most name brand wigs have adjusters at the nape to help with sizing customization.

Average: Average wig size is the most commonly purchased and is designed to fit a 21.5" - 22.5" head circumference. Brands such as Belle Tress and Estetica have average caps that tend to run a little larger, while hand tied wigs by Ellen Wille tend to run smaller. Jon Renau hand tied caps also offer a flexible cap that expands to approximately 22.75".

Petite: Most petite wigs will fit a circumference under 21.5".

4. What is a lace front wig?
A lace front wig features sheer lace along the hairline for a natural look at the hairline. A lace front also offers the option to style the hair away from your face. It gives the illusion of hair growing from the scalp and is a popular choice if you are wanting your wig to look as natural as possible.
5. What is a monofilament top?
A monofilament top is a section (usually 4" x 4" on the top of the wig that is designed with a soft mesh material that each fiber is individually hand-tied to, creating natural movement and allowing you to part the hair in multiple directions.
6. Can I use heat tools on my wig?
Yes. You can use heat on heat-friendly synthetic or human hair wigs. We recommend that you use heat tools below 270 degrees F on a heat friendly synthetic fibers. Standard synthetic wigs cannot be curled or straightened with heat, as it will damage the fibers.
7. How often should I wash my wig?
We recommend washing your wig every 6-8 wears. You may consider washing more frequently if you have an oily scalp, live in a humid climate, or if you use product in your wig or topper, or less frequently if you don't.
Many wig wearers will have a few pieces to rotate daily wear with.
8. How do I store my wig properly?
Store wigs on a wig stand or collapsible holder to maintain the shape. Keep them away from heat, sunlight, and humidity. For travel, use a silk or satin bag.
9. Why is my synthetic wig frizzing at the ends?
This is called friction frizz, caused by rubbing against clothing, car seats, or jackets. Heat-friendly fibers are especially prone to this. We recommend using a detangling spray on the ends of your synthetic wigs or hair toppers and a wide tooth comb to help keep the ends smooth.
You may also consider applying heat to the ends of your heat friendly synthetic wig to help smooth the ends out. The 3-in1 Airstyler by Envy is a safe option to refresh the ends of your synthetic and heat friendly synthetic wigs. Regular trimming and conditioning spray help reduce it.
10. Can wigs damage my natural hair?
No. If worn properly, wearing a wig should not damage your biological hair. Ensure your wig fits correctly, use protective wig caps if needed, and give your scalp breaks. Avoid adhesives if your scalp is sensitive. Wearing a wig grip underneath your wig will also help secure your wig properly.
