Wig Care and Styling Guide for Tru2Life Heat-Friendly Fibers

Keep your Raquel Welch and Gabor Tru2Life heat friendly synthetic wigs and hair toppers looking their best with proper wig care and maintenance. Designed to mimic the look and feel of natural hair, Tru2Life fiber is lightweight, soft, and heat-friendly—giving you the freedom to curl, straighten, or blow dry your style with tools up to 350°F (180°C).

Follow these expert tips to extend the life of your wig and maintain its beautiful finish.

Before You Begin

  • Gently detangle with a wide-tooth comb—never use a brush.

  • Always start from the ends and work toward the base to avoid fiber damage.

  • Be especially careful with lace front wigs, as the lace is delicate and can tear with excessive pulling.

  • Avoid sudden heat exposure (e.g., ovens) as it may melt synthetic fibers.

  • Do not sleep, shower, or swim while wearing a synthetic wig.

How to Wash Tru2Life Wigs

Pre-Wash / Detangling Your Wig or Topper

    • Gently remove tangles with a wide-tooth comb.

Washing Your Wig or Topper

    • Fill a basin with cool water and add 1 tbsp of HairUWear CLEANSE shampoo.
    • Soak wig for 3–5 minutes. Do not agitate or scrub the fibers and do not soak for more than 5 minutes. Soaking longer than 5 minutes can damage the wig or hairpiece.
    • Rinse thoroughly under cool water, allowing the water to run in the direction of the fibers. Gently press out water with a towel—do not wring.

Conditioning Your Wig or Topper

    • Lightly mist the ends with HairUWear RESTORE and comb through using a wide tooth comb.
    • Avoid spraying directly on hand-tied areas to prevent the hand tied knots from loosening.

Drying Your Wig or Topper

    • Place on a wig stand to air dry.

    • Hand-tied hairpieces should dry flat on a towel.

    • Do not use a solid mannequin head or canvas block head, as this may stretch the cap and disrupt air flow to dry the interior of the cap.

Styling Heat-Friendly Synthetic Hair

    • Once dry, shake and finger-style the wig for a natural look.

    • Use HairUWear PROTECT before applying heat.

    • Set heat tools to low–medium (max 350°F/180°C).

    • To curl: wrap a 1" section around a curling iron, hold 10 seconds, clip to set while cooling.

    • To straighten: run a flat iron down a 1" section and let cool.

    • Once heat-styled, Tru2Life® fiber retains its shape—even after washing.

    • Refresh curls or waves by spritzing a 50/50 mix of RESTORE and water.

Maintenance Tips

    • After each use, gently finger-comb or use a wide-tooth comb to remove tangles.

    • Refresh your style and neutralize odors with HairUWear REFRESH spray.

    • Store on a wig stand or clip onto a hanger to prevent kinks.

    • Only finger-style wavy or curly wigs when dry to preserve the texture.

    • For frizz or matting: wash, condition with RESTORE, and detangle gently from ends up using a wide tooth comb.

Reviews

Short and sassy

"I always have liked the color Biscuit in the RW line. I have several wigs in that color. I decided to try Fascination in Biscuit because of reviews I’d seen online. Because it is heat friendly, it does not have shine to its fibers which is fine by me. I really like the back of the style where it is real spiky and you can make it so by using your fingers. If you choose to have it be more sedate, simply use your fingers to smooth the back down. I am very happy with this style and with the service I received from Wig Studio 1"

Just OK

"The style is very cute, but the color is not much like what I saw on the site or in reviews ( using different monitors) and the fiber was very, very dry. I conditioned it and it’s better. I kept it and it will do, but I was a bit disappointed."

So disappointed in RW Fascination

"We are in Mexico, so the shipping can take forever, and I was ill when it arrived—which is to say that I just got around to wearing it about 10 days ago. At first it looked kind of cute, though it was blonde after 6 years of shaded grays, and that took me a little while to get used to. But just about that time, I was horrified to discover the wefts showing all over the place unless I combed it carefully and used a little hairspray (and I promise I’d used only the JR wide tooth comb!). The fibers felt dry and stiff, and the color Biscuit seemed to take on a slightly greenish cast in various lights. I have been wearing wigs full-time since 1999, and have never had such a failure. And, stupidly, I took out the tags because they hurt. I admit that I’ve been spoiled by all hand-tied, or at least mono tops with lace fronts, but cannot believe how much prices have gone up in the last 3 years. Well, if I ever buy a wefted cap it will be on a style with higher density fibers. This did say low density, but I just don’t see how it’s wearable. I know WS1 would have taken good care of me if I hadn’t taken the tags out. They’ve been good to me for around 15 years!"

Shake and go wig

"I really like this wig once I got used to it, straight out of the box it's a little scary looking. Hair hair every ehich way. After putting it on playing eith it, using the hot air brush, I really liked the look. Messy locks of hair that look great once you make it your own"

— Sherry A. (5/5)

Fascination by RE

"My mistake I ordered biscuit instead of shaded biscuit. The biscuit is rather one dimensional. I really need to work on the styling, especially across the front. It arrived well packaged."

— Elaine B. (3/5)

Great purchase. Cap fits perfectly.

"Great purchase. Cap fits perfectly. A bit too much hair and permatease for my preference so it needs to be thinned and sleaked down. SS Biscuit fantastic as usual."

— Tijana M. (5/5)

Was very disappointed.

"I received this wig today in Rusty Auburn. I loved the color but the hair fibers were very dull looking like it had been worn many times & wig was Very , very large , was labeled Average. It was a lot of fiber , just not me, I have a 21 &. 1/4 “inch head circumference . All Raquel is a little large on me but wearable by cinching up some…this was Not wearable & very big . The wig was not as I expected. I have 3 other Raquel wigs& love them, they are beautiful. !! I’m returning this one & purchasing another style of Raquel ."

Disappointed

"So sorry but, I was disappointed with this wig by Rachael Welch. I bought a short shaggy wig from her several years ago and I loved it. I don't remember the name of that wig so I looked for one that looked the same. This one was very similar however, it was so dry looking and the bangs stuck out and I just couldn't get it to look right. It was the only wig I have ever bought from Rachael Welch that looked fake. . . like a cheap wig. I sent it back. I will keep looking because her wigs are amazing."

— Carol F. (2/5)

The Perfect Style

"I love Facination! It is the perfect cute, trendy style and color (shaded biscuit) for me. Rachel Welch wigs are usually a lttle large on me unless they are the high end styles. This one fits my budget and my head! Now I have three."
