Wig Care and Styling Guide for Tru2Life Heat-Friendly Fibers

Keep your Raquel Welch and Gabor Tru2Life heat friendly synthetic wigs and hair toppers looking their best with proper wig care and maintenance. Designed to mimic the look and feel of natural hair, Tru2Life fiber is lightweight, soft, and heat-friendly—giving you the freedom to curl, straighten, or blow dry your style with tools up to 350°F (180°C).

Follow these expert tips to extend the life of your wig and maintain its beautiful finish.

Before You Begin

  • Gently detangle with a wide-tooth comb—never use a brush.

  • Always start from the ends and work toward the base to avoid fiber damage.

  • Be especially careful with lace front wigs, as the lace is delicate and can tear with excessive pulling.

  • Avoid sudden heat exposure (e.g., ovens) as it may melt synthetic fibers.

  • Do not sleep, shower, or swim while wearing a synthetic wig.

How to Wash Tru2Life Wigs

Pre-Wash / Detangling Your Wig or Topper

    • Gently remove tangles with a wide-tooth comb.

Washing Your Wig or Topper

    • Fill a basin with cool water and add 1 tbsp of HairUWear CLEANSE shampoo.
    • Soak wig for 3–5 minutes. Do not agitate or scrub the fibers and do not soak for more than 5 minutes. Soaking longer than 5 minutes can damage the wig or hairpiece.
    • Rinse thoroughly under cool water, allowing the water to run in the direction of the fibers. Gently press out water with a towel—do not wring.

Conditioning Your Wig or Topper

    • Lightly mist the ends with HairUWear RESTORE and comb through using a wide tooth comb.
    • Avoid spraying directly on hand-tied areas to prevent the hand tied knots from loosening.

Drying Your Wig or Topper

    • Place on a wig stand to air dry.

    • Hand-tied hairpieces should dry flat on a towel.

    • Do not use a solid mannequin head or canvas block head, as this may stretch the cap and disrupt air flow to dry the interior of the cap.

Styling Heat-Friendly Synthetic Hair

    • Once dry, shake and finger-style the wig for a natural look.

    • Use HairUWear PROTECT before applying heat.

    • Set heat tools to low–medium (max 350°F/180°C).

    • To curl: wrap a 1" section around a curling iron, hold 10 seconds, clip to set while cooling.

    • To straighten: run a flat iron down a 1" section and let cool.

    • Once heat-styled, Tru2Life® fiber retains its shape—even after washing.

    • Refresh curls or waves by spritzing a 50/50 mix of RESTORE and water.

Maintenance Tips

    • After each use, gently finger-comb or use a wide-tooth comb to remove tangles.

    • Refresh your style and neutralize odors with HairUWear REFRESH spray.

    • Store on a wig stand or clip onto a hanger to prevent kinks.

    • Only finger-style wavy or curly wigs when dry to preserve the texture.

    • For frizz or matting: wash, condition with RESTORE, and detangle gently from ends up using a wide tooth comb.

Beautiful, but not durable or practical

"Curve Appeal has a beautiful cut that is very flattering, particularly for a wider face. I had no issues with the density or construction, and would say the ones I have (2) are quite dense and thick. This piece would be good for professional wear, too, and I've gotten compliments on zoom meetings. BUT. There are two big issues for me: 1. The fibers on this were very frustrating, and tangle worse than any other I have. Curve Appeal's fibers were difficult to comb through, and once worn, the back was a tangled mess every time. I ended up after 3 wears having to take a hot air brush to smooth it back out, since it was so frizzed in the back. The next time I wore it, same thing. And no, I wasn't wearing a wool jacket or anything, just a cotton button-up. I tried conditioner, fabric softener, etc. , to no avail. I finally just cut the bottom layer of curls off because after about 6 wears, the back looked terrible. 2. The lace front started to fray after only a couple of wears. Luckily, it's parted so that you can't see this under the long bang, but it does affect the fit. I had to use fray stop, since this clearly wasn't welded lace. I am very gentle and exceedingly cautious with my wigs, since they're so expensive! For it to fray so quickly and start to unweave was very strange and has made me cautious of buying another from that line of RW wigs. Otherwise, this is a beautiful cut and I like the way the color frames the face to make the lace front more realistic."

Mostly positive!

"I wanted to provide another opinion since I did have a good experience with this wig. I know how upsetting it is to have disappointment with a new and expensive wig since I’ve also had that. I would give Curve Appeal a B minus. The one I received was made well with regard to the lace. I have worn it for a week straight daily and these are the issues I dealt with: weird shaping of the barrel curls and one side laying poorly, the lace part is so dense you can’t see it, disconnected layering that makes the nape seem much too long. Since I am a hairstylist I figured I could work with it. I first used my hot brush to smooth the weird barrel curls-it worked for a while but the hair did revert to the shape that it originally had. Then I used my flat iron on a setting of 270, taking small sections I smoothed it straight. Now you can see the disconnected layers but it lays much better! A silicone spray was helpful too, not over sprayed since the hair can’t absorb it. I actually love it now and can use it without being annoyed with the style. A hairstylist can help if you love the color and construction of this wig. Golden Russet is a beautiful color and great for a brunette who is transitioning to a blonde! I would post photos but that option didn’t pop up."

geat wig overall

"I am so far very pleased with this wig. it does not have a full mono top, but I decided to live with it (as I got it on sale). I wore it out already. I feel glamorous. Style is easy to wear right out of the box. It does have weak ear stays. The hair lies very close to the head and looks very natural. It has a light hair density which I much prefer over the free time wig. This one feels more natural while the Free Time certainly comes with ""big hair"". The cap fits nicely as well. The one thing that looks least natural on this wig is the part, because you can't see the skin through it even with my go-to solution of surgical tape or bandaid taped underneath. Color: RL14/25."

Curve Appeal is the perfect

. Big Disappointment

"This is the first wig I have ever purchased. I was so disappointed. I had read and seen reviews of Raquel Welsh wigs , I was excited to get it. I tried it on, and was immediately let down. The hair was voluminous , not well styled. I put it back in its box and put it away. I tried again, put it on and actually wore it. The hair was very fly away, and it shed terribly. The wafting? was visible through the hair. I wore it a second time thinking maybe this was something that is natural for a new wig, the shedding. This time I found that it was actually hurting me. When I investigated, I found that at the end of the lace to the left there was a thick knot of fabric and lace boring into my head. It had become painful after an hour of wear. It almost looked like that area had undergone a repair, it seemed thicker than the other side. I thought the wig was new. All in all a bad experience."
